About

A Brief History

DC METRO ALUMNI CHAPTER
The DC Metro Alumni Chapter, Inc. of Stillman College is an organization that is proud to support the betterment of Stillman. We began when our founder, Mr. Samuel Ethridge, moved to Washington, DC. After seeing a need for Stillmanites to stay connected, he organized other like-minded alums to form Stillman’s first alumni association. The first meeting was held in February of 1963 at the home of Ms. Margette Tompkins. Since that time, the organization has flourished. Not only do we socialize, encourage, and help one another, we actively work toward helping Stillman continue to be a shinning city upon a hill. We have hosted college presidents, to include Dr. Stinson, Dr. Wynn, and Dr. Warrick. We also work with the college to recruit young people from the DMV area. However, our best efforts are used to raise monies for Stillman. So, whether it be our Annual Night of Music fundraiser, our student and alumni mentorship programs, or even our delightful Christmas parties, everything we do is for the love of Stillman College.
